The Uttar Pradesh government has revealed its intention to construct Sugriva Path in Ayodhya, connecting the revered Hanuman Garhi Temple to the sacred Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, at an estimated cost of ₹11.81 crore. Spanning a length of 290 meters, Sugriva Path aims to provide a convenient thoroughfare, easing the entry of devotees into the sanctified precincts of the Ram temple.
The decision to embark on this infrastructure project is in response to the significant daily footfall of approximately 2 to 2.5 lakh devotees seeking darshan of Ram Lalla. This move is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the overall pilgrimage experience, as stated in a government press release.
The construction project, overseen by the Public Works Department, will allocate ₹5.1 crore for land acquisition, with the remaining funds dedicated to developing the corridor. The pathway is designed to have a width of approximately 17 meters, including a five-meter stretch exclusively for pedestrian pathways.
Chief engineer SB Singh from the Public Works Department affirmed that the initial phase will prioritize expediting the land acquisition process, laying the foundation for subsequent construction activities.
